Five Things The Triton Builder Should Know

If your Featherbed frame has a flat on one of the top tubes then you've a single cylinder frame. The single engines were taller than the twins and the flat was to accommodate the rocker cover. It's easy to spot the difference between a Wideline and a Slimline Featherbed, look at the rear subframe loops. If they're straight ifs a Wideline, if they're curved it's a Slimline. Of course the top tubes will also taper inward slightly at the seat nose on a Slimline. Wideline is better than Slimline....

Faults And Foibles

Usual two-stroke woes such as rings, pistons, bore wear and little ends all need considering but the CS is no better or worse than any other of its kind. The crank is remarkably strong and in classic racing where the starter dyno is removed, the cranks are safe to 12,500rpm even when putting out 35bhp at rear wheel. Kill a crank on one of these and you are either a butcher or a riding god. Fitted with a Mahle single ring piston 14,000rpm can be reliably achieved and even under such conditions...
