Although arguably now that it's being run in South America, away from all the Al-Qaeda terrorists who'd apparently threatened it, the Dakar shouldn't really be called 'Dakar' as it no longer goes anywhere near the place, the world famous event is still one of the world's great motorsport spectacles. Only the cream of the world's off-road racers (and, once, that Charley Boorman plum) take part and in 2010176 motorcycles and quads entered, but nowhere near that many finished. 134 cars and 52 trucks also entered and the attrition rate for them was just as high.

If you weren't able to watch it on telly at the time or would just like to see a full programme of coverage rather than just a snatch every night (steady...), then this new DVD from Duke Marketing might be just the thingforyou.

'For 16 days in January, the Dakar returned to South America as more 380 competitors racing cars, bikes, trucks and quads set out to cross 9000km of the most demanding and dangerous terrain Argentina and Chile have to offer. The drama of the toughest rally raid on Earth was played out against the spectacular landscape of two amazingcountries, with treacherous conditions and dangerous sand dunes ensuringthe competitors were put to the ultimate test.

Exceptional action footage, includingsequences captured by helicopter cameras and from on-board the vehicles, brings you the most important highlights from the 2010 Dakar Rally, as famous rivals including Carlos Sainz, Nasser Al Attiyah, Robbie Gordon, Mark Miller,Cyril Despres, Marc Coma, Stephane Peterhansel and more do battle on one of the most controversial, bitter and competitive events ever. Interviews, informed commentary and on-screen graphics ensure you share the full story of what proved to be not only a great adventure, but a truly great race for victory. Bonusfeatures - extended coverage of Stages 1 (Buenos Aires to Cordoba), 10 (La Serena to Santiago) and 14 (San Rafael to Buenos Aires).'
