Bmw K1300 S

f the previous two options err on the side of touring, the BMW K 1300 S is certainly fighting for the sports side. It can keep a Hayabusa honest and everything about it shouts speed; from it's sleek, low look to it's rabid motor -although that's not to say there's no genlle side to the BMW's charm.

It's incredible to think that this isn'; even BMW's quickest machine, because the muscular 1293cc motor can be every bit the hell raiser it threatens to be. This is the second generation of the K, evolving from the 1200 S to become as quick a continent basher as you can get. Speed and power can he bandied about, (175mph and 154bhp) but there's plenty of guise packed in. Positive drive comes from way down in the rev range, and then builds to its crazy crescendo. In between, everything is progressive and smooth, albeit with a little kick trom 7,000rpm. If you can't do what you want with this motor, then you need to realign your desires with reality.

But all this speed needs to be contained somehow, and by and large the K 1300 S keeps everything in check nicely. Though it's low and long, to promote stability, the big Beemer isn't afraid of being blasted though the very twistiest bits of the Valleys. It does take some getting

The suspension geometry has been modified to improve steering neutrally, while increasing agility. Both wheels and Duolever apparatus has been tweaked, now made in alloy rather than steel. Unspr jng mass is reduced by a kilo. The rear is likewise firmed up and the S's wheel-load distribution is claimed tobe exactly 5C:50. EVO ABS brakes are standard.The chassis feels at its best when in use with the optional ESAII.
